I will miss you, David. It hit me this morning as I waited for your bus and you weren’t in your normal seat. I knew you were already elsewhere, but I guess I forgot for a moment. I know we only knew each other for two years, but I got used to seeing your face everyday. I will miss your orneriness. I will miss getting you off the morning bus and walking out with you at the end of everyday. I hope you’re somewhere where your abilities are endless. No more limits or unsteadiness, but being able to walk tall and never tire. I hope you’re somewhere that makes you never want to stop smiling.
Just know that we all care deeply for you and we wish you the best in the next life. Thank you for making our days interesting with your orneriness and sly looks. You were a man of few words, but held a presence in your room. I will miss those normal days, we all will. Even though life goes on and there’ll be another Tuesday and another movie Friday, your friends and I will miss you. Stand tall and walk proudly, my friend. Until another time, goodbye, David. I will miss you.
